Nozomi Networks – CyberSecurity Summit 2024 Recording | Seminar & Event Video Production in Japan | Still Photography

Hello, this is Nagasaka from PalmTrees.

Today, I would like to share a behind-the-scenes look at the filming and production work we handled for Nozomi Networks at the CyberSecurity Summit 2024.

For this project, we were entrusted with both video recording and still photography. Our team consisted of three members:

• 1 photographer • 1 videographer • 1 audio engineer / camera assistant
For video, we used a total of four cameras:

• Stage-right × 1 • Stage-left × 1 • Center (close-up) × 1 • Center (wide, fixed) × 1

The center wide-angle camera required height, so we mounted it on a platform.
The adjacent close-up camera can be raised to nearly two meters, so we operated it manually from a stepladder.

The device on the far right in the photo is a Tascam recorder, which we used to capture ambient sound such as applause.
During editing, we mixed this with the line audio.

On the stage-left side, we recorded with a wide-angle lens.

Due to the mixer setup, we also placed a recorder on the stage-left side to capture the line audio.
Our audio staff monitored both the camera feeds and the audio throughout the event.

As a backup for the line audio, we often place a microphone in front of the speakers.
However, since the speakers were located on the second floor for this event,
we placed a microphone aimed toward the second-floor seating area.

Ideally, ambient microphones should be within about 50 cm of the source, otherwise the benefit is limited.
Still, if noise contaminates the line audio, it becomes unusable, so this setup served as a backup to the backup.

The camera shown here captured the stage-right angle.
Since this angle served mainly as a safety shot, I operated the main camera while checking this one as needed. Ideally,
we would assign a dedicated operator,
but due to the short notice and the fact that no active camera operation was required, we ran it unmanned.

At PalmTrees, we have fully transitioned from XDCAM to mirrorless cameras for video production.
This allows us to handle up to four cameras without rentals.
Since I personally work in both still photography and video, our equipment is selected to function well for both.

We also collaborate with external videographers and photographers,
allowing us to provide one‑stop support for projects requiring both video and stills—such as this event.

If you are looking for event recording or lecture documentation, please feel free to contact us.

Thank you very much for reading. I look forward to seeing you again.
